Patricia Johnson Beane

Patricia Johnson Beane was born in Massillon, Ohio, in 1944 to Eugene and Narvella Johnson. She graduated from Washington High School in 1962 and from Ashland College in 1966 with a B.S. in Education and a minor in Music.

Patricia began her teaching career with one year in Akron, then returning to Massillon to teach nine years at Gorrell Elementary and the rest of her career at Emerson Elementary teaching 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades, retiring in 2003 after 37 years.

Pat has utilized her musical training by performing as soloist with the Ashland College Tour Choir, alumni soloist for "The Messiah" in Ashland, at Washington High School and with the Tuscarawas Symphony Chorus. She also sang with the Akron Symphony Chorus and was a member of the Canton City Opera Chorus (now V.O.C.I.) for ten years. Pat has been soloist at several church and various function in the Massillon/Canton area. As a member of Grace Christian Fellowship Church in Canton, she serves as Trustee, Deaconess and Music Director. Patricia has been active in the past on many local boards in the Massillon area . She served as Secretary of the Massillon Public Library Board of Directors (1997-2020) and Chairman of the library’s Cultural Diversity Committee.

In 2019 she was recognized by the Massillon Tiger Benchwarmers with an Outstanding Service Award. Mayor Kathy Catazaro-Perry declared December 31, 2020 as Patricia Beane Day.

Patricia was married to Atty. Frank L. Beane for 50 years until his passing in April 2018. She has two adult sons, Frank Beane and Adam Beane, daughter-in-law Myshan, and grandchildren Mansur, Batual, and step-granddaughter Alexandria (Pearl) Adderaly, all of Atlanta, Georgia.
