Evelyn Edwards

Evelyn Jane Peterson Edwards was a graduate of Washington High School in 1946. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for the Massillon Urban League. Evelyn was the first African American woman to work in the title department in the Stark County Court House. She was also the first African American secretary at Jones Junior High School and Washington High School in Massillon.

Evelyn Edwards worked for Congressman Ralph Regula's office. She moved to California for a number of years, working in the IRS department before returning to Massillon to work in the school system.

A lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church, she belonged to and worked in several church organizations.
